Reconstruction after Mohs or skin cancer excision

Skin Cancer Reconstruction in Troy, Michigan

Reconstruction after skin cancer removal rebuilds the area using local flaps or grafts, restoring normal appearance and function while keeping scarring as inconspicuous as possible.

Removing a skin cancer, particularly on the face, can leave a defect that affects both appearance and function around the eye, nose, lip, or ear. Reconstructive Plastic Surgery closes that defect thoughtfully rather than simply stitching it shut.

Dr. Qasawa uses techniques such as local tissue rearrangement, skin flaps, and grafts, choosing the approach that best matches the surrounding skin in color and texture. Many patients are referred directly after Mohs surgery.

Good to Know

Face questions

What is the best age for a facelift?

There is no single right age. Most facelift patients are in their 40s to 60s, but candidacy comes down to skin laxity, health, and goals rather than a number. Dr. Qasawa assesses each patient individually during consultation.

How long does facelift recovery take?

Most patients feel comfortable returning to light activities in about two weeks, with bruising and swelling continuing to settle over several weeks. The final result comes through as the tissues fully relax over the following months.

Is eyelid surgery covered by insurance?

Upper eyelid surgery may be partially covered when excess skin blocks your vision and this is documented with a visual-field test. Purely cosmetic eyelid surgery is not covered. Our team can help you understand your options.

How long does Botox last?

Botox results usually last three to four months. With regular treatment, many patients find the results last a little longer over time as the treated muscles relax.
